Minister of Education Nadiem Makarim Inaugurates Monash University in BSD City
Sinar Mas Land through BSD City continues to encourage the government's efforts to improve the quality of education in Indonesia.
This is manifested in the participation of BSD City, which hosts Monash University as the first overseas university in Indonesia. The inauguration of the Monash University campus took place at the Green Office Park (GOP) 9 building, BSD Green Office Park BSD City area by the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Nadiem Makarim, accompanied by the President and Vice Chancellor – Monash University Margaret Gardner AC, President – Monash University Indonesia Andrew MacIntrye, and witnessed by the Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Penny Williams, Tangerang Regent A. Zaki Iskandar, and Group CEO – Sinar Mas Land Michael Widjaja. Nadiem Makarim thanked Ambassador Penny Williams for the support from the Australian government, Margaret Gardner for supporting Monash, and Michael Widjaja for opening up space for foreign universities to come here. President and Vice Chancellor – Monash University Margaret Gardner AC said the opportunity to gain new knowledge is the vision of Monash University and the Indonesian government. "We hope that Monash can learn and contribute significantly to economic development in the region. We chose this location by considering its proximity to industry, to other universities, as well as being right where people live, study and work," he explained. President – Monash University Indonesia, Prof. Andrew MacIntrye said, "Monash "University of Indonesia has an attractive home in BSD City with a good ecosystem so that we can collaborate with innovative companies such as Traveloka, Unilever and others," he added.
