Demand for Solar Panels Remains High During the Pandemic

PT Surya Utama Nuansa (Sun Energy) said the demand for solar panel installations remained high during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Efficiency in energy use and the era of clean energy are considered to be the main factors for this increase. Sun Energy's Chief Operations Officer Philip Lee said the demand for solar panels remained high during the pandemic. He said solar power is a solution for companies, factories and even hotels to reduce the cost of electricity bills. "We offer solutions that help reduce costs," Philip said during a virtual visit to Beritasatu Media Holdings in Jakarta, Philip admits that the solar panel devices he sells come from China. However, he emphasized that the equipment owned by Sun Energy still has a domestic content level (TKDN). "Solar panel technology continues to develop and is increasingly affordable. Maintenance costs are minimal and this is clean energy," he said. Chief Commercial Officer of Sun Energy, Dion Jefferson, said that his party had installed 80 megawatt peak (MWp) of total solar panel capacity throughout Indonesia. In addition to offices, housing and industry, Sun Energy also serves the needs of plantations to electrify irrigation pumps.
