Digital Economy, the Primadona of Telecommunication Operators
The digital economy is predicted to be an actual business that is very promising, so many business people immediately turn around. Although some have not left their legacy business which is still related to digitization. In the future, without digital transformation, businesses will not be able to compete, dim, and even collapse.
The telecommunications sector is one of the leading businesses that engages and plays an active role in the growth of the digital economy business. Moreover, the telecommunications industry now cannot rely on its revenue solely on the internet bandwidth business, which is not growing. All global cellular operators are worried about their business, especially about the data yield in relation to mobile broadband which can no longer be hoisted. The market is already saturated and the competition is fierce, making data prices unable to lift. On the other hand, the digital economy is growing rapidly and according to President Jokowi, in 2025 digital economic transactions in Indonesia will reach 124 billion US dollars or around Rp. 1,780 trillion more. Of the total digital economy transactions in Southeast Asia, 41.9% of them came from Indonesia, according to research by Google, Temasek and Bain&Co.
