Child Vaccination, Socialization Needs to be Activated

National Coordinator of the Education and Teacher Association (P2G) Satriwan Salim said that without involving parties such as the Ministry of Health, Kemendikbudristek, Ministry of Religion, Local Government, schools, homeroom teachers, and the mass media, it would be difficult to convey this information to parents clearly and comprehensively.
With the involvement of these stakeholders, for example through public service advertisements, parents' interest in getting their children vaccinated will increase. Likewise, the organization of the School Committee or the Association of Parents and Teachers (POMG), he added, is no less important to help with the socialization. "At least parents must understand the procedure/technical for student vaccination, the requirements and how to register and where to get vaccinations," he said in his statement to Bisnis, Monday (12/7). Not only that, P2G assesses the importance of schools to be more proactive in coordinating with related institutions such as the Health Office and the Education Office for scheduling student vaccinations. According to him, schools can also take the initiative to build cooperation with Alumni Association organizations or mass organizations as well as BUMN and the private sector to organize free vaccinations for children independently. Regarding self-vaccination, Satriwan further said that self-vaccination initiatives by schools could be a simple solution. "Of course it's still under the supervision of the regional government. For example, several private and public schools in DKI Jakarta have initiated collaborations with alumni organizations, community organizations and BUMN," he said.
