Coal Exports Started Gradually

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, in Jakarta, Wednesday (12/1/2022) night, said his party had held a meeting with all stakeholders. He received assurances from PLN that there would be no blackouts and that coal reserves for a minimum of 15 days of operation and 20 days of operation for power plants had been met.
Luhut ensured that companies that have not fulfilled their domestic market obligation (DMO) for coal will have their ships checked, including involving the Maritime Security Agency. Meanwhile, those who can run (for export) are those who have fulfilled their coal DMO obligations. “All those who do not fulfill their previous obligations will be penalized and the state will receive billions of US dollars. So this is our problem for decades. inefficiency," he said. The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif conveyed the same thing at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon. According to him, coal exports are prioritized for coal producers who meet the 100 percent DMO requirements for coal. His party is committed to perfecting the coal DMO mechanism, including the plan to form a public service agency (BLU) for coal levies.
