Indonesia's Palm Oil Production This Year is 53.8 Million Tons
The Indonesian Palm Oil Association (Gapki) estimates that national palm oil production this year will reach 53.8 million tons, up 4.87% from the 2021 realization of 51.3 million tons.
The scarcity and spike in fertilizer prices that occurred last year caused the increase in palm oil production this year, which is projected to grow not too significantly. Executive Director of Gapki Mukti Sardjono explained that one of the factors that hindered oil palm production was fertilization which was hampered in 2021 due to the scarcity and increase in fertilizer prices which will affect productivity and production in 2022. In addition, there is the La Nina phenomenon which also has an impact on oil palm production. domestic. The extreme wet weather that occurred in early 2022 will not only affect production in the first semester of 2022, but also in the second semester of 2022. According to Mukti, 2021 palm oil production shows an anomaly, in the second semester which is usually higher than the first semester but in 2021 it will be lower. Therefore, production in the first semester of 2022 will be an indication of whether the production decline will continue or an increase will occur. "The production of CPO (crude palm oil) in 2022 is estimated at 49 million tons and PKO (palm kernel oil) 4.8 million tons, bringing the total CPO and PKO to 53.8 million tons," he explained in a press statement.
