PLN Starts Buying Coal Directly to Miners
PT PLN (Persero) has begun to implement the centralization of coal purchase contracts in order to maintain the reliability of electricity supply to customers.
Previously, the coal purchase contract was carried out by a subsidiary of PT PLN Batubara which has now been transferred to the parent company. "For optimization, PLN concentrates on coal supply so that all coal purchases are consolidated at PLN. This policy will encourage the effectiveness of coal management," said PLN Primary Energy Director Hartanto Wibowo. coal. The PLN Coal contract, which was previously dominated by contracts with traders, has been changed so that miners become parties to the contract. According to him, PLN and PLN Coal have no longer contracted with traders. In addition, PLN has also made changes to contracts that were originally short-term into long-term contracts. "This contract change was made to ensure long-term certainty of coal supply, both in terms of volume and delivery schedule," Hartanto added. He also ensured that the payment process to all parties involved in the coal supply chain would be faster, a maximum of 14 days from the previous 90-120 days.
