The Story of Tasuk Village, Mine Affected Area which is Now a Rice-Producing Center

This is certainly a special thing considering the economic dependence of the mining sector. Berau Regency's 2018 GRDP data, the contribution of the mining sector is 61%, the plantation and agriculture sector is 11% and 28% of other sectors. Tasuk Village is located in Gunung Tabur District, Berau Regency, East Kalimantan. This area is included in the area affected by coal mining with a high frequency category in the operational area of PT Berau Coal Site Sembarata. “Farmers in Tasuk Village are all elders. The young ones work in the company. The sale of our rice fields only sells half. Selling is difficult,” said Purnomo when telling his story. The average productivity of rice farming initially only produced 5 tons/ha. Sales are not optimal, not good and not competitive. The marketing quantity of agricultural products is low because it is only 1 ton/year. Until then PT Berau Coal entered to start a program called the Tasuk Mapan Program and has now provided benefits to the community. Of course, through the CSR program the coal mining activities of PT Berau Coal Site Sembrata Mine Operation in Berau Regency, East Kalimantan.
