Bulk Cooking Oil: Prices Will Normalize Soon

Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said the impact of the industrial approach
used by the government in solving the cooking oil problem will be seen in the near future. We will normalize first, we will try to have a good price and sufficient supply, then we will see the adjustment," said Agus after briefly reviewing the cooking oil production at PT Sinar Mas Agro Resources and Technology (SMART), Marunda, Bekasi, West Java. This temporary market can reach 9,000 tons per day, above the national demand of 8,000 tons per day. The government is also pursuing all 81 domestic cooking oil producers to join the program, bringing the total volume of cooking oil that can be supplied to the market to 14,000 tons per day. General Manager of PT SMART Marunda Agus Widjaja said that since the Regulation of the Minister of Industry was enacted, his party had distributed cooking oil at two points, namely Cipete, South Jakarta, and Bekasi. Agus Widjaja ensures that manufacturers are in maximum production capacity to supply the market. "We are also responsive with assistance from our distributors, carry out bulk oil operations and will continue," he said.
